Tempest®24 00 2 -Channel Wireless Intercom System
Connecti ng Multi ple BaseStati ons
Tempest BaseStati ons may be used together to form large wireless
systems, and may include external wired intercom systems. Intercom
audio for any or all channels can be linked across multi ple BaseStati ons.
Audio from one BaseStati on can be passed via a 2-Wire connecti on
to another BaseStati on, if they are to share a single channel of audio.
Through this method, many complex combinati ons of intercom channels
can be achieved.
All RF devices have the potenti al to cause interference. Therefore,
Tempest off ers two synchronizatoin opti ons, Accu-Sync™ and ZSync™,
that are designed to minimize potenti al interference when using
multi ple BaseStati ons.
Accu-Sync is included with every Tempest BaseStati on and uses the
Accu-Sync connecti ons on the back of the BaseStati on to synchronize
multi ple BaseStati ons together.
See the Accu-Sync secti on on for more
informati on on using Accu-Sync.
Zero Sync (ZSync) technology has been developed to enable Tempest’s Seamless Roaming feature as well as greatly
enhance the performance of non-roaming multi -BaseStati on Tempest installati ons. The ZSync technology provides a more
sophisti cated form of BaseStati on synchronizati on over the older Accu-Sync technology. To uti lize ZSync technology either
a Zero Sync Generator or a Parallel Zero Sync Generator is necessary to act as the source of the ZSync signal. These devices
are sold separately. All Tempest BaseStati ons conti nue to support and provide Accu-Sync synchronizati on signals. It is,
however, strongly recommended that ZSync technology be used whenever there is a multi ple BaseStati on confi gurati on.
Tempest includes a Master Mode which provides required audio power when only Tempest BaseStati ons are linked without
external intercom.
See the Master Mode secti on.
A multi -base system will generally uti lize Tempest Remote Transceivers to distribute the wireless signal, someti mes
extending the number of users by overlapping the wireless coverage area, and someti mes extending the wireless range
with the iSelect Roaming feature. In this applicati on, always try to separate antennas by at least 10 feet whenever possible.
A 4-Wire matrix intercom system may be confi gured to connect to multi ple Tempest BaseStati ons so that all share the
same channels. Confi gure each BaseStati on individually as described in 4-Wire (Matrix) Intercom Interface. The following
informati on relates to multi ple BaseStati on confi gurati ons without a matrix system.
If intercom channels are connected across multi ple BaseStati ons without connecti on to an
acti ve 2-Wire intercom, one of the BaseStati ons must be placed into Master Mode.
If multi ple BaseStati ons are linked on a common audio channel, each BaseStati on must
be nulled separately. Null one BaseStati on at a ti me.
