Modes of Operati on
Tempest Wireless BaseStati ons off er 3 modes of operati on: Normal, Shared, and Split Mode. The mode of operati on can
be set by going into menu mode on the BaseStati on. Press MENU and select “Mode Setti ngs,” then “Operati onal Mode.”
Note: In additi on to the BaseStati on, the BeltStati ons must be set into “Shared” mode to use with either Shared or Split modes of operati on.
Normal Mode
In Normal mode, users can have up to 5 BeltStati ons (per
BaseStati on). All BeltStati ons in this mode are in the standard
operati ng mode, giving the user control of the channels on which
they operate and dual listen/talk functi onality at any given ti me.

Each BeltStati on has dedicated anyti me talk back
capability.
»
BeltStati on talk butt ons may be operated in either
momentary or latching mode.
»
Sidetone may be set individually for each BeltStati on from
-6dB to -30dB.
»
Full BeltStati on telemetry is available real-ti me at the
BaseStati on and T-Desk; these setti ngs can be adjusted
from the BaseStati on and/or T-Desk.
Shared Mode
The Shared mode uti lizes only BeltStati ons set into “shared” mode
via the BeltStati on menu. This mode allows an unlimited number
of BeltStati ons to listen, but only 5 shared BeltStati ons can talk (in
momentary mode) at any given ti me; however, they can control the
channels in which they operate.

BeltStati ons are inherently full duplex (talk/listen at
the same ti me); “Shared BeltStati ons” are physically no
diff erent than a normal BeltStati on.

Shared BeltStati ons operate in momentary talk mode; no
more than 5 talk paths may be used at any given ti me.
»
Each BeltStati on is capable of features such as Stage
Announce, Wireless ISO, and Relays; however, each acti on
uti lizes one of the fi ve available talk paths so long as it is
triggered.

Shared BeltStati ons are unable to provide telemetry to the
BaseStati on or T-Desk, thus no BeltStati on setti ngs can be
adjusted from the BaseStati on or T-Desk.
»
Volume of the BeltStati on that is acti vely talking is
dynamically reduced to minimize the eff ect of echo.
