Chapter 10: Data Transfer
Loading MPEG (.mpg) data files:
MPEG encoded HD or SD video clips (MPEG transport streams) must be loaded on to the MS9500GL’s hard disk
in order to be played (sent to a display device).
Transfer all video files to the default folder in the MS9500GL (a default test MPEG file is included with the
MS9500GL); this is the D:\Video folder.
The user has two methods available for loading MPEG data into the MS9500GL:
• ETHERNET port on the back panel – Connect the MS9500GL to your LAN and transfer MPEG data
from your file storage system (or another computer) with any FTP application.
• USB interface on the back panel – Connect the MS9500GL to another computer or to a portable drive
and transfer files to the MS9500GL
Use the FTP application of your choice to up-load MPEG (.mpg) files stored on a “local computer” to the
MS9500GL. Follow the directions given with the specific application for transferring data between computers.
For the purpose of example we will describe two methods for file transfer:
1. The DOS command window
2. Internet Explorer
Perform these procedures with any Windows based PC.
The MS9500GL “remote computer” and the computer containing video files for transfer (“local computer”) must
be connected to a network.
NOTE: Do not change the password to the hdclipftp user.
Loading Scene (.scn) data files:
Scene (.scn) data must be loaded on to the MS9500GL’s hard disk in order to implement a user defined display
device layout (scene).
Transfer all Scene files to the D:\Scenes folder in the MS9500GL (a number of default Scene files are included
with the MS9500GL).
The user has two methods available for loading .scn data into the MS9500GL:
• ETHERNET port on the back panel – Connect the MS9500GL to your LAN and transfer the .scn data
from your file storage system (or another computer) with any FTP application.
• USB interface on the back panel – Connect the MS9500GL to another computer or to a portable drive
and transfer .scn files to the MS9500GL
Use the free Electrosonic OSD Designer software or a FTP application of your choice to up-load Scene (.scn) files
stored on a “local computer” to the MS9500GL. Follow the directions given with the specific application for
transferring data between computers.
For the purpose of example we will describe two methods for file transfer:
1. The DOS command window
2. Internet Explorer
