Install - Router Menu
The Kayak HD system can interface with an external routing system like
Encore, Jupiter and Pro-Bel automation systems. A routing system con-
nects a router source (router input) to a router destination (router output).
Changing the router source sends a different signal to the destination
(called a take). A router destination can in turn be connected to a KayakHD
input and be configured as a routed KayakHD source (called switcher
source in this discussion and in the Kayak menus). The router acts as a pre-
selector for the switcher source, and so increases the number of inputs
available to a button on a Kayak system bus.
An external router can be configured into levels, to allow the switching of
multiple signals simultaneously. For example, video signals can be orga-
nized on one level, and key signals on another. By specifying both levels
when giving a router take command, both the video and key signals of a
source will be routed to their destinations.
Note
Kayak system router take commands are applied to single or all router levels
depended of the configuration. The external routing system's destinations
must be configured correspondingly.
The following control features are supported in Kayak:
•
Destination Assignment
•
Level Assignment (Encore, Pro-Bel)
•
Source name transfer
•
Source name and configuration change notification
Router Control Interface Cabling
Connect an RS-422 9-pin serial cable from the Kayak Video Processor frame
to Router or Router Control system.
Note
Note Kayak system supports only serial RS -422 communications. Commu-
nication via Ethernet network is not supported!
Video Interface Cabling
Connect each Router destination to an available input connector on the
Kayak Video Processor frame. You will need to know the module and J
number of each input connector used for each destination when you con-
figure the Kayak source.
