4. The following page should have the heading “Give your network a name and choose
security options”. Here is a breakdown on what you will find this page:
a. Network name - whatever name you choose try to keep it simple and easy to
remember.
b. Security type – of the options available choose WPA2 Personal this more secure
than WEP.
c. Security key/Passphrase – basically a password. When coming up with a
passphrase keep the following in mind:
i. The passphrase should be 8 – 63 characters long.
ii. Come up with something that contains numbers, upper and lowercase
letters, and symbols. Try not to use words that could be found in the
dictionary. Either make sure to set the field to display characters or
remember the password.
d. If this is a setup you will be using again you can use the “Save this network”
checkbox. Otherwise this ad hoc setup will disappear once you are done using
it.
5. The Next page will state that the ad hoc connection is ready to use. It will also show you
the “Wireless network name” and security key or passphrase you came up with. All that
is left is to click “Close” and then go to your other device and connect using this
information.
