Overcasting
Overcasting
is
used
to
prevent
the
fabric
edges
to
fray
out.
To
involve
the
fabric
edges
with
a
stitch,
zigzag
stitching
shall
be
used.
PREPARATION
Pattern: Zigzag stitch
Needle position: Center
Stitch length: 1 - 2
Stitch width: Zigzag
Foot: General purpose presserfoot(B)

Place fabric under presser foot, positioning the edge of the
fabric in the center ofthe foot slot, as shown in illustration 1.
2. Adjust stitch width so that one stitch is inside the fabric and the
other
is
out,
as
shown
in
illustration
2.
This
procedure
allows
that the thread involves the fabric edge.
