Rebuilding the steering gear box
To take the steering gear box apart:
1.
Remove the steering gear box by following the pro-
cedures described in the previous section of this
chapter.
2.
Remove the drive control link connector plates:
2a.
Remove the hairpin clip and clevis pin.
See Figure 6.29.
2b.
Remove the nut, while leaving the bolt in
place.
2c.
Remove the connector plate on the nut side.
2d.
Remove the bolt, washers and the roller with
the other connector plate. See Figure 6.30.
3.
Remove the brackets from the steering gearbox
using a 3/8” wrench. See Figure 6.31.
4.
Remove the six remaining case screws using a 3/8”
wrench.
