5.2 Temperature Sensors

There are a variety of temperature sensors that can be implemented on Intel

®

Server Systems. They are split into various types each

with their own events that can be logged.

5.2.1

Threshold-based Temperature Sensors

Threshold-based temperature sensors are sensors that report an actual temperature. These are linear, threshold-based sensors. In
most Intel

®

Server Systems, multiple sensors are defined: front panel temperature and baseboard temperature. There are also

multiple other sensors that can be defined and are platform-specific. Most of these sensors typically have upper and lower thresholds
set

– upper to warn in case of an over-temperature situation, lower to warn against sensor failure (temperature sensors typically read

out 0 if they stop working).
