Registration
Completing and returning the enclosed Product Warranty Registration Card is
very important to you. It is the only way that we can ensure that you promptly receive
the latest information and software updates from Nikon. We feel that it is so important
that we are offering an added incentive - upon receipt of your completed card, we will
send you Nikon’s Guide to Scanning, free of charge! This is an invaluable comprehensive
manual on scanning and color reproduction. So, please complete the Product Warranty
Registration Card and mail it today!
Software Backups
As is the practice with any software, it is strongly advised that you make a com
plete backup of the enclosed distribution software diskette and store the original master
diskette in a safe place. Always work with the backup copies when installing the Nikon
software.
Minimum PC System Requirements
As an absolute minimum, your PC or compatible computer system must be con
figured with the following components:
• Microsoft Windows version 3.0 or later (version 3.1 recommended)
• 8 Megabytes of RAM (16-32 recommended for best performance)
• 80 Megabyte Hard Disk (300MB or more recommended)
• Sufficient hard disk space for the Nikon Scanner plug-in, Coolscan Control soft
ware, SCSI Driver, and resulting image files
• 8-bit display (24-bit true-color display strongly recommended)
Suggested System Configurations
Following these suggestions will yield the best scanning results:
• Coolscan is not guaranteed to operate with all third-party SCSI controllet cards. It
is for this reason that Nikon has supplied you with a Nikon-approved SCSI con
troller card for the installation of your scanner.
