Temperature Controller Set-up
The XDS Process Analytics Instrument contains a temperature controller to maintain internal
temperature of the enclosure. This is normally set to 38.0 degrees C (100.4 degrees F).
Temperature is read in degrees C.
A temperature-sensing device is embedded in
the instrument cabinet, and this is used as a
method to control the internal temperature.
This control maintains internal temperature by
cycling the heaters, air conditioner (if so
equipped), Vortec cooler (if so equipped) and the
external fan to drive cooling air over the heat
sink.
An internal fan is used to circulate air inside the
enclosure. This assures that all components are
at a consistent operating temperature.
The upper number (red LED) indicates actual
enclosure temperature. The lower number
(green LED) indicates the set-point value.
This photo shows the set point as 38.0 degrees C, and the actual enclosure temperature as 38.0
degrees C, equal to the set point. This indicates a stable temperature situation.
Follow this procedure to set instrument temperature:
With the instrument powered on, press the INDEX button until the SP1
Indicator is lit. The green LED display will show “SP1”. The set point is
shown in the Red LED display, and is adjusted using the arrow buttons.
INDEX
Press the UP button to reach the desired set point for SP1. Temperature
reads in degrees Celsius.
UP
If the temperature setting is too high for SP1, use the down button to
lower the set point.
DOWN
When the set point is correct, press the ENTER button. The temperature
will be controlled by the instrument. The display will reset to the normal
display after about 30 seconds, after taking several sample temperature
readings.
ENTER
The enclosure temperature is displayed in the Status Bar of Vision, as
shown. This is not adjustable from Vision.
In this case, the instrument temperature had not yet reached the set
point of 38 degrees C. It is shown for operator information.
