The correction spectrum represents the amount of spectral correction required to provide a
virtual 100% reflectance reference at each data point. (The correction is plotted in violet.)
This is calculated in Vision. The difference between the sample fiber and the Certified 80%
Reflectance Reference, plus the stored spectrum on the diskette or Mini-CD, permits
calculation of the true response of the sample fiber, on a scale of absolute absorbance.
14.
A final spectrum (green when plotted on-screen) is plotted to verify that the corrected
spectrum produces the same results as the Certified 80% Reflectance Reference.
Click “Close Report” to continue.
When finished, this box is shown with the final correction spectrum. The correction is
automatically downloaded, and is saved in the Diagnostic Data Base for the proper channel,
and will be applied whenever a "Reference Standardized" DCM is used.
NOTE: Cleanliness of the probe window is very important when this program is run. If the window
is not extremely clean, the character of the window contamination will be imparted to the
reference correction. Therefore, maintain a clean window at all times according to maintenance
instructions.
NOTE: The DCM must be created with "Reference Standardization" checked in the "Project
Options" box. If the DCM was created prior to selection of "Reference Standardization", and
checked afterwards, the DCM will not apply Reference Standardization.
The standardization fixture should be left in place for Instrument Calibration, which follows.
