The lamp box SMA terminals are shown close-up.
The channels are marked in this photo, to show
where the “source” fibers attach.
The fiber at the bottom position connects to the
split fiber which is attached to the
monochromator. This is the internal reference
channel.
The instrument contains a catastrophic shutdown
temperature control, shown at right. This
instrument is set at 120 degrees F.
If the temperature of the instrument (inside)
exceeds the preset temperature, the instrument
will be shut down for safety.
This photo shows box which contains the tungsten
halogen illumination lamp. The lamp points
upward, and illuminates the attached fibers.
NOTE: This box is not mounted in the Direct Light
instrument.
The cover to the lamp box has four captive
thumbscrews, which are loosened for lamp access.
This is explained in the Lamp Replacement section
of this manual.
