Link Test

Back-to-back/

Standalone

Button

The Link Test Back-to-back/Standalone (LT BB/LT SA) button on the
AT-PB1000 Series Media Converters is used together with the Link
Test/MissingLink feature when performing a link test on the media
converter. You use the LT BB/LT SA button to configure the module to
match the topology in which you installed the module. The two possible
network topologies for the media converter, back-to-back and
standalone, are described in

Network Topologies

on page 49. The LT

BB/LT SA button must be set correctly in order for a link test to be
performed accurately. To perform a link test, refer to

Troubleshooting

on

page 99.

Caution

AT-PB1000 Series Media Converters will not pass network traffic
when a link test is being performed, thus possibly disrupting
network operation. Only when the LT/ML button or switch is in the
ML position will the media converter pass network traffic.

1. For maximum performance of Gigabit Optical Datalinks when greater than 40 km (24.8 mi) and operating within the 1550 nm

optical spectrum, it is mandatory that the Single Mode Fiber (SMF) be rated as “non-dispersion-shifted,” “dispersion shifted,”
or “non-zero dispersion shifted.”
