Validate Checksum
Scans the user data area of a disk for sector checksum errors. If the action fails, the Action Details
dialog box reports a sector checksum and suggests that you spare the sector only if you believe there
is a drive media problem.
To find additional information, use the OSM Event Viewer. Retrieve events using $ZLOG as the
source criteria and RAL as the subsystem criteria, and look for Disk-sector-failure events (event
number 7001). In the event detail, a Sector-failure-count token shows how many sector checksum
errors were found, and a Disk-logical-sector token appears for each error, providing the logical
address of that failing sector.
You can perform the Validate Checksum action while the disk drive is in use. You can use the Abort
Action button to cancel this action.
