114 Continuous Access XP Journal
NOTE:
You can select only one secondary data volume even when two or more primary data
volumes are selected in the Pair Operation pane. Continuous Access XP Journal automatically
specifies the other secondary data volumes. For more information, see the explanation for the Select
Other S-VOL(s) option on page 114.
If you selected more than one primary data volume, select the secondary data volume for the
primary data volume being displayed. Secondary data volumes for the remaining primary data
volumes are automatically assigned according to the LUN. For example, if you select three primary
data volumes and select LUN01 as the S-VOL for the first primary data volume, the secondary data
volumes for the two other primary data volumes are LUN02 and LUN03.
When creating more than one pair at a time, ensure that the S-VOLs to be assigned automatically
are available. If an S-VOL is not available, you must select S-VOLs individually.
You can specify the port number with two characters. For example, you can abbreviate CL1-A to
1A. You can also enter the port number in both lowercase and uppercase characters.
•
Select Other S-VOL(s): Specifies how Continuous Access XP Journal automatically assigns secondary
data volumes if you select two or more primary data volumes in the Pair Operation pane.
• Increment: Continuous Access XP Journal increments the resulting secondary data volumes’ LUNs by
one. For example, if the three primary data volumes’ LUNS are 001, 002, and 003, the resulting
secondary data volumes’s LUNS are 011, 012, and 013 if you select LUN 011 from the S-VOL
drop-down list.
• Input Next: Specify a LUN for each primary data volume. For example, if you select two primary
data volumes, select Input Next, specify the secondary data volume for the first primary data
volume with S-VOL, and click Set. Next, specify the secondary data volume for the second primary
data volume with S-VOL, and click Set.
• Relative to P-VOL: Continuous Access XP Journal calculates the difference between LUNs of two
adjacent primary data volumes, and determines the secondary data volumes’ LUNs. For example, if
the three primary data volumes’ LUNs are 001, 005, and 006, the resulting secondary data
volumes’ LUNs are 002, 006, and 007 if you select LUN 002 from the S-VOL drop-down list.
NOTE:
If you select and right-click more than one volume in the Preset list and select Modify, the
Paircreate pane appears and the Select Other S-VOL(s) drop-down list displays No Change. To
change the setting with this drop-down list, select another item from the drop-down list.
•
Mirror: Assign a master journal group to the primary data volume, assign a restore journal group to the
secondary data volume, and assign a mirror ID to the volume pair.
• M-JNL: Assigns a master journal group to the primary data volume.
NOTE:
• M-JNL does not display journal group numbers used by Universal Replicator for z/OS.
• M-JNL displays only journal groups containing journal volumes belonging to the CLPR where the
selected volumes belong.
• Mirror ID: Assigns a mirror ID to the volume pair.
• R-JNL: Assigns a restore journal group to the secondary data volume.
NOTE:
R-JNL does not display journal group numbers used by Universal Replicator for z/OS.
•
CT Group: Specify a consistency group.
