Screen Angle
This parameter identifies the screen angle.
Dot Percent
This parameter identifies how the different halftone settings and
densities look at various gray levels.
Font Samples
The different font samples show how sharp, smooth and clean
the text is at 600 dpi.
Vertical Resolution
The rectangle on the bottom left-hand side of the calibration page
shows the increase in vertical resolution at 600 dpi. Each bar
segment shifts down by 1/600''.
Dot Gain Area
The circle on the bottom-center part of the calibration page shows
the decrease in dot gain (dark area in the center of the circle) at
600 dpi. The arc rotation is by 2 degrees. The near vertical and
near horizontal lines are less jagged.
Horizontal Resolution
The rectangle on the bottom right-hand side of the calibration
page shows the increase in horizontal resolution at 600 dpi. Each
bar segment shifts right by 1/600''.
For quick calibration, use the following procedure:
1 Set the density or contrast using the density control lever
located inside the printer on the left side of the fuser assem-
bly (see About Print Density, earlier in this chapter). The
standard setting is centered in the middle of the scale. A set-
ting toward the thicker end of the scale darkens print, and a
setting toward the thinner end of the scale lightens it.
2 Through the control panel, selct a gamma correction settig
from the Administration/Engine submenu.
