1" Retract Chain (Gradall P/N 9116-3036)

Boom-Section 3 to Boom-Section 1

Preparation

Retract the boom fully so that the chains are accessible through the front

access holes.

Attach lifting tackle to the crowd cylinder and take the weight off the crowd cylinder.

Remove the cylinder pin from the rod end of the crowd cylinder and drop the

cylinder free of the boom. This will permit your access to chain.

Remove tension from the chain by backing off the jam nut and adjusting the nut.

Removal

Remove the four bolts from the chain adjustment block.

Remove the chain from the devis at the block.

Install a tie-wrap through the holes in the removed chain, make a loop with the

tie-wrap and tie a rope to the loop.

Move to the back of the boom, pull the chain to the rear to allow slack for removal.

Remove the chain from the devis and drop it free of the boom.

Holding the rope at the front adjustment block, carefully pull the chain out through

the back of the boom until it is free.

Untie the rope and leave it in place for reinstallation of the chain.

Boom-Section 4 to Boom-Section 2

Preparation

Remove the jam nut from the chain devis installed in the chain adjustment block.

Back off the adjusting nut fully on the chain clevis. Do not remove the nut from

the clevis.

Removal

Remove the chain from the clevis, install a tie-wrap through the holes in

the chain, make a loop with the tie-wrap and tie a rope to the loop.

From the back of the boom, pull the chain to create slack for removal.

Remove the chain from the clevis and drop it free of the boom.

Holding the rope at the front, pull the chain out the through the back, until it is

free of the boom.

Untie the rope and leave it in place for reinstallation of the chain.
