C HECKING AND A DJUSTIN6 E XTEND C HAINS
Check
Position the handier in a safe, level, open area well away from personnel and
equipment. Apply the park brake, shift the forward/reverse lever to “Neutral” and
turn the rear wheels straight forward.
Level the boom & extend it halfway. Stop the engine and chock the wheels.
At the top front of boom-section 1, measure the gaps between the flat washers
and the rear face of the extend chain anchor. Correct gap measurement is
1 /
4
". If
the gaps measure more or less than
1 /
4
', the extend chains must be adjusted.
See Figure below
Repeat the check for the single extend chain for boom-section 4 (anchored at the
top front of boom-section 2).

Adjustment
Loosen the jam nuts on both extend chains.
Tighten the extend chain adjusting nuts until the gap between the chain flat
washer and the boom anchor is 1 /
4
". See figure above When the chains are
properly adjusted, the gaps on both extend chains will be equal.
Torque the jam nuts to 100 ft-lb. Do not use LOCTITE
®
on the nuts.
Repeat above steps to adjust the single extend chain for boom-section 4
(anchored at the top front of boom-section 2).

Note!
When tightening or loosening,
prevent the chain from twisting by
using wrenches on both the
adjusting nut and the jam nut
simultaneously
