 Blurred Character Correction
When there is faint or broken text in the scanned image, this feature causes the machine to combine
the letters so that they are more readily detectable as text, causing not only text, but also black dots
and lines to be combined. If both Boldface Formatting and Blurred Character Correction are
enabled, only the Boldface Formatting function will be performed.
NOTE
This function is available when the Black & White scan type is selected.
 Edge Emphasis
This feature allows you to make blurred images and document or magazine text appear more clearly
for improved visibility. Use the slider to adjust the strength of the Edge Emphasis effect.
NOTE
• This function is available when the Auto, True Gray, or 24bit Color scan type is selected.
• This function is not effective for the Long Paper document size.
8 Noise Reduction
This feature allows you to remove small dots or specks called “noise”, from the background of scanned
images. Removing unwanted speckles helps to reduce compressed file size.
NOTE
• This function is available when the Black & White scan type is selected.
• This function is not effective for the Long Paper document size.
9 Remove Ruled Line
This feature allows you to remove lines in the document. You can select the type of line direction to remove
(Vertical, Horizontal, or Vertical and Horizontal). Angled lines will be detected as lines and removed if
they are less than 0.36 in. (9 mm) from the center of the document to the edge of horizontal or vertical.
 Minimum Line Length
Lines whose length is greater than or equal to the specified length will be removed.
