The safety card monitors safety functions in accordance with EN 61800-
5-2. It monitors safe motion sequences on drives, which are safely
brought to a stop and shut down in the event of an error.
The safety card is built into a servo amplifier PMCprotego D. This con-
verts the servo amplifier into a safe servo amplifier.

A safe drive system from Pilz consists of the following:
 Servo amplifier (PMCprotego D)
 Safety card PMCprotego S built into the servo amplifier
 Servo motor (synchronous motor) with
– Standard encoder system (feedback)
– Brake (optional, not safety-related)
 Safety control system
