< Cautions and Warnings when Verifying Operations >
When installing a lamp other than an incandescent lamp (for instance, an LED lamp) or a resistance load to
verify whether the functions of the SL-C series are functioning correctly, be sure to take the following
precautions.
• When actual consumption current is 20 mA or less, check that the muting lamp off time (time when the
muting function is off) is at least one second long. Failure to do so will cause the SL-C series to enter
lockout condition.
• A resistance load or the lamp except for incandescent lamp can be used for a short period of time to verify
the correct operations of the muting function, but it should not be used as the muting lamp. After verifying
operations, make sure to remove the lamp other than incandescent bulb or the resistance load and use a
lamp recognized in this instruction manual as a muting lamp. Failure to do so may result in significant harm
to machine operators, including serious injury or death.
WARNING
• The muting lamp or the SL-R12D must be installed prior to carrying out the
muting function on the SL-C Series. The muting lamp or the SL-R12D must be
installed at the location where they can always be clearly and easily visible for
the machine operators or the responsible personnel in case of normal machine
operation, setting or alignment for muting or maintenance, etc.
• If it is necessary to install 2 or more muting lamps in order to satisfy the above
requirements, the muting lamps must be installed so that they are connected in
series to the LAMP terminal on the SL-R12EX terminal block. The SL-R12D
cannot be used with the other muting lamps simultaneously. Therefore, the other
muting lamps must be installed instead of using the SL-R12D.
Failure to follow this warning may result in significant harm to machine operators,
including serious injury or death.
CAUTION
• The LAMP terminal on the SL-R12EX is the dedicated terminal intended for
muting lamps. Do not use it to supply power to other devices.
• When the rating of the muting lamp in use is 24V 2W or 30V 2W, control the
equipment so that the muting lamp off time (time when the muting function is
off) is at least one second long. Failure to do so will cause the SL-C series to
enter lockout condition.
Important: The SL-R12EX is so designed that it always monitors the connection to the muting lamp. As a
result, if the SL-R12D or the other muting lamps are not connected to the SL-R12EX (includ-
ing the case of breaks along lamp cables and disconnection of cables), the light curtain (SL-C
Series) goes to the lockout condition, and the FSD turns OFF-state.
