4. Install the SL-C Series so that the number of beam axes indicated in the following table is
blocked by the machine's obstacle.

If the number of beam axes blocked by the obstacle is smaller than the above-defined number, you
must additionally block the beam axes forcibly by using test piece so that the number of blocked beam
axes is consistent with above-defined number. The status monitor function can lead to the easy
alignment because you can monitor which beam axes are being blocked. See “4-7 Status monitor”
(
➮4-25) for more information.
5. Press the “SET/TEACH” button once and release it. Confirm that the “TEACHING” LED blinks
and the “BBP” LED lights. Also confirm that 8 consecutive LEDs (MODE STATUS indicator) turn
ON in case of SL-C08SB, and 16 consecutive LEDs (MODE STATUS indicator) turn ON in case
of SL-C16SB.
6. Install the BBP unit (SL-C08SB or SL-C16SB) on either
side of the obstacle so that the SL-C Series transmit-
ter faces the BBP unit's receiver, and the BBP unit's
transmitter faces the SL-C Series receiver, with all
beam axes aligned. The status monitor function can
lead to the easy alignment because you can monitor
which beam axes are being blocked. See “4-7 Status
monitor” (
➮4-25) for more information.
7. Align all SL-C Series and BBP unit beam axes so that
they get stable detection level.
8. Press the “SET/TEACH” button once more and release
it. Confirm that the “TEACHING” LED turns OFF.
9. Set the PROGRAM switch to the “RUN” side.
10.The blanking blind protection function can be carried
out and begin operation when you turn OFF the power
to the SL-R12EX and then back ON.
Important: Blanking blind protection function cannot be carried out when the machine obstacle blocks
more than 15 beam axes.
