4-4-3 Obstacle restrictions
The obstacle on the machine onto which the BBP unit is installed must meet the following conditions to
ensure the suitability of BBP installation.
The height of the obstacle (H) must be within the value indicated in the
following table.
BBP unit H
SL-C08SB 135 mm (5.31") or less
SL-C16SB 295 mm (11.61") or less
WARNING
If the longitudinal length of the BBP unit is longer
than the height of the target machine's obstacle, a
new hazardous zone allowing human approach (a
zone where the SL-C Series can not detect the
defined detection capability.) is created when the
following conditions are met. Be sure to install the
additional safety protective equipment, such as a
safe guard, for this zone. Failure to follow this
warning may result in significant harm to machine
operators, including serious injury or death.
• When “Z” is more than “Z'”, a hazardous zone
allowing human approach where the SL-C Series
cannot detect the detection capability is created
between the BBP unit's transmitter and receiver.
• When (Z+H)' is more than (Z+H), a hazardous
zone allowing human approach where the SL-C
Series cannot detect the detection capability is
created between the BBP unit's transmitter and
receiver.
