4-2 Floating blanking function

4-2-1 Setting procedure

1. Turn OFF the power to the SL-R12EX and turn ON

the function switch 2, 3 or 4 corresponding to the
number of beam axes for which you intend to enable
this function, as indicated in the following table. Two
function switches having same number are provided
on the SL-R12EX. You must turn ON both switches.
All other switches should be OFF.

No.2 is ON
No.3 is ON
No.4 is ON

Enables the floating blanking function for 1 beam axis.
Enables the floating blanking function for 2 beam axes.
Enables the floating blanking function for 3 beam axes.

2. Set the PROGRAM switch to “PROG” side.

3. Turn ON the power to the SL-R12EX and confirm that

the “TEACHING” LED lights. If the “TEACHING” LED
does not light, repeat this procedure from Step 1.

4. Press the “SET/TEACH” button once and release it.

Confirm that the “FLOATING” LED blinks.

5. Block only the beam axes by using a test piece for

which you want to enable a floating blanking function.
After you have blocked beam axes, you can confirm
that the floating blanking function has only been set
for the intended beam axes through the status moni-
tor function. See “4-7 Status monitor” (

4-25) for

more information about the status monitor function. If
the floating blanking function has been set to the
other beam axes than those intended, repeat this
procedure from Step (1).

6. Press the “SET/TEACH” button once and release it. Confirm that the “TEACHING” LED blinks

and the “FLOATING” LED lights.

7. Press the “SET/TEACH” button once more and release it. Confirm that the “TEACHING” LED

turns OFF.

8. Set the PROGRAM switch to the “RUN” side.

9. The floating blanking function can be carried out and begin operation when you turn OFF the

power to the SL-R12EX and then back ON, or when you activate the restart input on the SL-R11
(see the SL-R11 Instruction Manual for more information about restart input).
