functions
not operatĆ
ing.
Malfunctioning switches.
V Check START/STOP switch, butfirstremove aĆc line power at main
disconnect.
V Connect ohmmeter to wire 32 (red) pin on the switch. (Note numbers here
refer to numbers noted on Remote Station wiring diagram on Figure 3.8.
Colors refer to those shown on Local Station wiring diagram Figure 7.1.
V Touch probe to wire 38 (brown) pin on the switch.
V Place switch in the START (closed) position.
V If the switch is properly functioning, a short will be seen on the meter.
V Check the STOP function. Place the RUN/JOG switch in the RUN position.
Connect the ohmmeter to terminals 32 (red) and 35 (orange). Place the switch
in the STOP position, which should open it if it is functioning correctly. if there
is a short, it will be seen on the meter. If there is no short, the circuit is opened,
and the switch is functioning correctly.
V Using similar techniques, test the JOG/RUN switch. The pins are 35 (orange)
and 32 (red). When the switch is in the RUN position, a short should be read.
Improper wiring connecĆ
tions.
V For a Remote Operator Control Station, compare actual wiring with Figure
3.8. A Local Operator Control Station uses two cable harnesses, so wiring
should not be a problem. However, check the pin connectors on the
Regulator Module for proper fitting.
4. Controller's
M contactor
not picking
up when
START

function.
V Place POWERON/OFF circuit breaker in OFF position. Open main aĆc line
disconnect.
V Connect ohmmeter between terminals 32 (red) and pin 38 on the Auxiliary M
pins while pressing Start. Meter should indicate zero ohms.
START
switch is
pressed
(closed).
Contactor malfunction.
V Look with an ohmmeter from pin 38 (+) to 40 (-) on regulator connector
pins for Relay Harness. Should be about 230 ohms (resistance of M coil).
5. M contactor
picks up
but remains
in only
when
START
rocker
switch is
pressed
and held in.
RUN/JOG switch is in
JOG position.
V Apply aĆc power to controller.
V Place the RUN/JOG switch in the RUN position.
CRrelay not picking
V Connect a voltmeter on the Local Operator's Faceplate ribbon connector.
Place it on pin 35 (orange) wire. (Refer to Figure 7.1.)
V Connect the second probe to connection 40 (orange) connected to the
Regenerative MinPak Plus M contactor.
V The reading should be +24 VDC for normal operation. (Refer to Figures 7.3
and 7.5 to see the logic of this test.)
V Next, shift the probe from pin 35 (orange) to pin 38 (brown) on the same set
of pins . However, leave the second probe where it is.
V Press the START switch. The reading should be approximately 24 VDC for
normal operation. (Refer to Figures 7.3 and 7.5 to see the logic of this test.)
V Press the START/STOP switch to STOP, and then START. A 24 VDC
(approximate) reading should continue to appear. If it does not, the CRrelay
is not picking up. In this case replace the Regulator Module.
DANGER
THE PROCEDURE DESCRIBED HERE IS PERFORMED WITH LIVE AĆC
VOLTAGE APPLIED TO THE CONTROLLER. USE ONLY ONE HAND TO
APPLY VOM LEADS/PROBES. KEEP YOUR OTHER HAND BEHIND YOU
AT ALL TIMES. DO NOT HOLD ONTO THE CONTROLLER FOR SUPĆ
PORT. PERSONAL INJURY MAY RESULT IF THESE PRECAUTIONS ARE
NOT TAKEN.
