Step 1 Ċ Test the SPEED potentiometer to assure that
it is operating properly. Slowly turn the pot to 10 and obĆ
serve the results at the motor.
Step 2 Ċ If no undesirable operation occurs, move the
SPEED potentiometer to 0 (zero) quickly. Observe if the
deceleration and minimum speed rates are acceptable.
Step 3 Ċ Move the potentiometer to 10 quickly. Observe
if the acceleration and maximum speed rates are acceptĆ
able.
4.3.6 Stopping Ċ The START/STOP rocker switch is
used to stop the drive motor. For safety reasons the
switch is designed to remain in the STOP position after
it is depressed.
For the standard, unmodified control, the drive coasts to
rest after the STOP switch is pushed. With the addition
of the optional Dynamic Braking Kit, pressing the STOP
switch causes a sharp reduction in speed for fast stops.
Assuming the drive is running, press the STOP switch.
Observe the stopping process for proper operation.
4.4 Final Adjustments with LoadĊOnce all the initial
powerĆon adjustments have been performed with acĆ
ceptable results, the final adjustments can be made.
These are done with power on and with the load coupled
to the drive motor. It is important to follow these steps
closely.

4.4.1, 4.4.2, 4.4.3 AND 4.4.5 ARE MADE WITH
AĆC LINE POWER APPLIED TO THE REGENĆ
ERATIVE MINPAK PLUSCONTROLLER AND
THE DRIVE MOTOR. THE MOTOR ISCONĆ
NECTED TO THE LOAD. THESE ADJUSTMENTS
REPRESENT A POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS
SITUATION AND PERSONAL INJURY COULD
RESULT IF SAFETY PRACTICES ARE NOT OBĆ
SERVED.
4.4.1 Coupling the Load Ċ For final adjustments to be
carried out, it is necessary to put the drive motor under
load.
Step 1 Ċ On the Operator Station, place the POWER
ON/OFF circuit breaker in the OFF position.
Step 2 Ċ Open the main aĆc line disconnect switch. Lock
it open or remove the fuses.
Step 3 Ċ Couple the drive to the load. Make all connecĆ
tions in accordance with instructions shipped with the
units. Assume these will be final, and tighten couplings
accordingly.
Step 4 Ċ Make a final visual inspection of the application
equipment to be sure that no loose equipment has been
left on it. Alert all personnel in the vicinity of the testing to
be carried out.
Step 5 Ċ Reapply all aĆc power and carefully test the
driven equipment. If any malfunction occurs, turn off the
controller immediately and follow troubleshooting proĆ
cedures.
4.4.2 Maximum Speed (Voltage) Ċ The Maximum
Speed potentiometer on the Regulator Module has been
factory preset for 50% of a typical motor base speed of
about 1750 rpm. By means of adjustment, the maximum
speed may be raised to suit the application. The result is
the highest speed that can be set by the operator on the
SPEED dial. The control range is 50Ć100% of rated
speed.
There are two methods for determining if the motor and
driven equipment are operating at an acceptable maxiĆ
mum speed for the application:
D Tachometer
D Visual inspection of machine operation

COULD RESULT.
Step 1 Ċ On the Operator Station, if there is an AUTO/
MANUAL selector switch, put it in the MANUAL position.
Step 2 Ċ Place the RUN/JOG selector switch in the RUN
position.
Step 3 Ċ Place the FORWARD/REVERSE selector
switch in the FORWARD position.
Step 4 Ċ Turn the SPEED dial to a conservative setting
of 2.
Step 5 Ċ Press the START rocker switch.
Step 6 Ċ Open the Cover on the Regenerative MinPak
Plus controller.

COULD RESULT IF SAFETY STEPS ARE NOT
FOLLOWED.
Step 7 Ċ Locate the Maximum Speed potentiometer on
the Regulator Module. (Refer to Figure 4.7.) The letters
MAX SPD are printed on the Module. Note that CW rotaĆ
tion represents an increase in speed. CCW represents a
decrease.
Step 8 Ċ On the Operator Station, increase the SPEED
dial slowly in the direction of 10, which is 100% of full
travel.
If, as the SPEED dial is turned toward the 10 setting, the
speed exceeds the maximum acceptable speed, imĆ
mediately decrease the maximum speed on the SPEED
dial. Use a small insulated slot screwdriver.
NOTE: In some cases. to avoid exceeding the maximum
operating speed. it may be necessary to turn the MaxiĆ
mum Speed potentiometer completely CCW before turnĆ
ing the SPEED dial completely CW.
