5.9.2 Gripper

The gripper transports labware. The gripper uses the mandrel and peg to hold the labware on the gripper
arms. The gripper is placed on the gripper holder.
CAUTION! Risk of injury from mandrels on the gripper arms.
Each gripper arm has 2 sharp mandrels on the inside.
 Handle the gripper from above.
 Do not touch the gripper arms on the inside.
The gripper transports the following labware: The gripper does not transport the following
labware:
• Plate
All plates will be transported. Plates will be
placed on a worktable, stack, height adapter or
thermoadapter.
• Thermoblock
Will be transported with the positioned plate.
The positioned plate will not be picked up by the
gripper without the thermoblock.
• Thermorack
Will be transported with the inserted reaction
vessels. The inserted reaction vessels will not be
picked up by the gripper without the
thermorack.
• PrepRack
Will be transported with the inserted reaction
vessels. The inserted reaction vessels will not be
picked up by the gripper without the
thermorack.
• 300 mL reservoir
• 400 mL reservoir
• Vacuum frame
Is transported on its own or with the filter plate
attached.
• VAC Lid and Vac Thermo Lid
• Individual vessels
• Plate stack
The top plate will be transported from a plate
stack.
• epT.I.P.S. Motion Racks
• Racks
• Reservoir Racks
• Reservoirs and Reservoir Rack modules
• Height adapter
• Thermoadapter
A plate will be transported if it is inserted in a
thermoadapter.
