5.7.2.1 Using UV lamps
Prerequisites
• The epMotion is ready for operation.
1. Remove the labware, waste container and dispensing tools from the worktable.
2. Close the front hood.
3. Switch on the UV lamp using the software (refer to the epMotion software operating manual).
When you open the front hood, the UV-lamp switches off.
CAUTION! Risk to health due to UV radiation.
UV radiation causes eye and skin damage.
UV radiation may escape outward through the ventilation slits in the rear panel of the
epMotion.
Wear your personal protective equipment when you are near the ventilation slits.
NOTICE! Damage to plastic due to UV radiation.
Plastics become brittle due to exposure to UV radiation.
Remove the dispensing tools, labware and waste container from the worktable before
switching on the UV lamp.
The radiated power of the UV lamp decreases with age. Have the UV lamp replaced by
Eppendorf Service once every 2 years.
Information on decontaminating labware and dispensing tools is available (see
Decontamination and cleaning on p. 97)
