The import routine considers a non-numeric character to be a separator, so any non-
numeric character can be used to separate both the pairs of eastings and northings and also
the pairs of coordinates denoting the start and end of a survey line. In this example, a
space delimits each easting and northing pair, and the strings

separate the
survey line data pairs.
