Disabling and re-enabling an interface module
NOTE
This section does not apply to the active management module. The disable module and enable
module commands are not applicable to the active management module. If you attempt to remove the
management module while the chassis is powered on and running, all traffic being handled by the
system will stop.
Before removing an interface module from the chassis while the chassis is powered on and running,
disable the module first. Disabling the module before removing it prevents a brief service interruption
on other forwarding modules. The brief interruption can be caused by the chassis re-initializing other
modules in the chassis when you remove an enabled module.
To disable a module, enter a command such as the following at the Privileged EXEC level of the CLI.
device# disable module 3
This command disables the module in slot 3.
Syntax: disable module slot-num
