Adding Another Child to a Mirror

In Figure 8-2 , a concatenated volume becomes one child of a new mirrored
volume. This adds a level to the hierarchy. The new mirrored volume becomes
the head of the volume hierarchy. The new mirrored volume automatically
assumes the LUN from the concatenated volume. For more information on
attaching volumes to LUNs, Chapter 7 “

Volume Exposure and Security

”.

Creating a mirror from a single volume creates data redundancy. Adding an
extra child to a mirror does not create data redundancy. It increases the
existing redundancy.
