REPLACEMENT MOWER
SPINDLE ASSEMBLY
531104 fits all 36RM and 42RM Mawers.
531105 fits all 48RM Mawers
DISASSEMBLY
1. Remove old mower belt shields.
2. Loosen belt by unhooking idler tension spring.
3. Remove both spindle sheaves shafts and
spindle housings from mower pan.
ASSEMBLE (See Figure 1)
1. Inspect mower pan for wear or damage.
Repair or replace if necessary.
2. Mount both new spindle housings with bear
ings in mower pan with hardware previously
removed. DO NOT use 29144 shims until alignment
has been checked.
3. Install washer (64048) on spindle shaft (31943)
and insert into both spindle housings. Install mounting
hardware (bearing slinger, retainer hub, blade tray,
blade, lock washer and nut). Refer to Figure 1.-
4. Check blade alignment between outer blade
and center blade. If misalignment is more than 1/16
inch, proceed as follows;
A. If center blade is higher than 1/16 inch, re
move any shims under gear case. If blade is
still not within 1/16 inch, install 64048 washer
as required between 31913 spacer and 31844
sheave.
B. If center blade is lower than 1/16 inch, add a
29144 shim between mower pan and both
spindle housings.
C. Recheck belt alignment between sheaves.
Add or remove 64048 washer between spindle
sheave and upper bearing as required on both
outer spindles.
5. Remove hardware fram both outer spindles
and install key (66014) on both spindles. Reassemble
hardware with blade in position.
6. Grease both spindles as required.
7.
Reinstall belt over both outside spindle
sheaves being sure belt is in position on center
sheave. With idler in position behind belt, install idler
spring.
8. Belt shields should have zerk access holes
added for ease of lubricating bearings. Drill 1 inch
hole directly above zerk, or install new shields.
9. Install a 75040 plug in each access hole to keep
dirt and grass out of belt and sheave area.
LUBRICATION NOTE:
Grease bearings every 25 hours of operation
using Ariens Special Moly-Multipurpose Grease. Part
#000150.
