4.6.
Check the blade spindles for looseness while the
belt is off.
4.7.
Reverse the removal process to install a new
belt or belts.
4.8.
Test the operation of the mower and its safety
features before returning the mower to service.
5.
SPINDLE SERVICE
5.1.
Inspect all of the spindles for wear or damage
when performing regular deck belt and blade
maintenance. The recommended lubrication
interval for the deck spindles is 25 hrs., using
No.2 Multipurpose lithium base grease.
5.2.
If repair or removal is required, remove the deck
belt as described in the Deck Belt section of this
manual.
5.3.
Hold the top of the spindle bolt using a 1 1/8”
wrench and turn the nut off the bottom using a
1 1/8” wrench.
5.4.
Slide the blade assembly off the spindle bolt.

5.5.
Withdraw the spindle bolt and washers, and
remove the pulley. See Figure 5.5.
5.6.
The center spindle has two pulleys, with a
spacer between them, but the procedure is oth-
erwise similar to the outer two spindles.
See Figure 5.6.
5.7.
Once the pulley is removed, the spindle may be
unbolted from the deck using a pair of 9/16”
wrenches, or it may be repaired in place.
NOTE: If a warrantable repair is being made to
the spindle, replace the spindle as a complete
unit. Outside of warranty, the dealer may repair
or replace the spindle at their own discretion.
Spindle service parts may not be available dur-
ing the first year of production.
