6.1.2

Connection of the sample preparation module

The following description assumes the use of a 2.820.0X20 IC

Separation Center (2-channel system).

The 1.793.0110 Sample Preparation Module must first be inserted in the

820 IC Separation Center and then connected to the basic instrument

of the 833 IC Liquid Handling Sample Preparation Unit (833 Sample

Preparation in Fig. 12). The 1.753.0100 Suppressor Module of the IC

Liquid Handling Suppressor Unit is also inserted in the Separation

Center and connected to the relevant basic instrument (833

Suppressor in Fig. 12). This is described in detail in Section 5.

The components are connected as shown below; this also shows the

sample flow scheme:

The inlet and outlet capillaries mounted on the sample preparation

module are connected up as follows:

A) Sample loop at valve B

is filled.

B) Sample is neutralized

in Sample Preparation
Module; anions are

enriched at valve A.

C) Enriched anions are

transferred to the

separation column.
