Road Simulator
Installing the Transducer
12. Attach the transducer output cable to the slip ring encoder connector and the
J3 Transducer connector on each TI box.
Route the cables along the swing arm or front fork tube using tie wraps to
secure it. Ensure the cables are routed such that they will not contact any
moving parts, such as the brake disk or wheel. Allow enough slack to
accommodate the range of motion of the front fork tubes and swing arm.
13. Connect the power source to the J1 Power connector on the TI box.
14. Connect the data cable from the J2 Output connector on the TI box to the
data recorder or your test control system.
15. With the vehicle supported to remove the weight from both transducers,
remove the four bolts installed in Step 6 that secure each adapter plate to
each spindle housing.
16. Before continuing with this procedure, proceed to
on page 93 and perform the procedure
as required.
17. After completing Step 16,
A. Rotate the adapter plate to align the square head setscrew on the slip
ring/encoder with the center of the flat on the axle spacer (between the
mounting screws on the anti-rotate bracket when it is installed).
B. Rotate the adapter plate in either direction to align with the nearest
mounting hole in the spindle housing.
In this position, if the TI box power is cycled off and on, you can drive
the simulator through its normal range of motion and cause the slip ring
to pass the index mark. This eliminates the need to disconnect the
adapter plate and rotate it in order to relocate the index mark when
power is restored.
C. Attach the adapter plate to the spindle housing using the sixteen M10
fasteners.
Lubricate the threads and under the head of each fastener with
Molykote g-n paste.
D. Using a cross pattern, torque the sixteen M10 bolts to the value for the
first increment shown in the previous table.
E.
Repeat Step 17D for the final increment.
F.
For fixed mode only: Measure the angle, caused by rotating the adapter
plate to attach the fasteners, and update the AngleFixed value in the
calibration file as described in to
