Step 2. Setting the 802.1X function in the wireless LAN station
Next, set the 802.1X function.
The following procedure is to enable the 802.1X function. The other settings for the wireless LAN
network are omitted.
For details on each item, refer to the Windows XP online Help.
1. Open [Wireless Network Connection Properties].
2 Select the [Authentication] tab.
3 Set the following items and click the [Properties] button.
Place a check mark in the [Enable network access control using IEEE 802.1X] check
box.
Select [Smart Card or other Certificate] in the [EAP type] edit box.

The above screen is an example when Service Pack 1 is not used. If Service Pack 1 is used, the
screen will be different.
