Begin Calibration: Select to perform a calibration. This key is selected after setup of Procedure, Device
Out, and Cal Type is completed (see Documenting Calibration Results for more information)
Procedure: This option allows the user to select a “Manual” calibration (the user defines the procedure as he
calibrates the device under test or configures a test procedure for a manual calibration), “From PC” calibration
procedure (the procedure has previously been downloaded from compatible device management software and
stored in the MFT memory for later use in the field), or Template calibration that provide the use with three
configurable templates that can be set up once and then recall and reused in the field.
Note The “From PC” calibration option requires the MFT Documentation option and Device Management
System from Meriam or other compatible asset management software.
To select a calibration type, move the selection arrow to Procedure and press Select. The following screen
will appear:
Use the Up or Down soft key to scroll to the desired option and press Save to make the change.
Device Out (Conventional, mA, PV, User Entry): This option allows the user to select between the
calibration of a HART [ ] device, non-HART, or device requiring User Entry (local indicator, Foundation
Fieldbus, or Profibus) device. To select, move cursor to Device Out and press Select.
Conv:
This option is used for a non-HART transmitter and transducer device. The output selected
can be for mA or VDC. Example: 4 – 20 mA or 1 – 5 V.
mA:
This option is used for a HART transmitter device. The device output selected is 4 – 20 mA
from the HART transmitter for calibration.
PV:
This option is used for a HART transmitter used in multi-drop or burst mode. The device
output selected is the HART PV signal for calibration.
Enter:
This option is used for local indicators or fieldbus devices. Selecting Enter makes keyed
input available for entering the test device’s indicated reading or the test device’s output as
relayed from the control room into the MFT operator.
Press the Back soft key if you choose not to make any changes. The MFT will then return to the Calibrate
key main menu screen.
