Imposition
• N Imposed Pages: Specify the number of logical pages arranged in a physical page. 2, 4, 8,
and 16 can be specified with 16 pages as the maximum value.
• N-up in Row: Specify the number of logical pages arranged in the horizontal direction in a
physical page.
• When the number of imposed pages is 2, only 2 can be specified.
• When the number of imposed pages is 4, 2 and 4 can be specified.
• When the number of imposed pages is 8 or 16, only 4 can be specified.
• Setting 2 as the number of pages in row will generate one binding margin.
• Setting 4 as the number of pages in row will generate one longitudinal gutter and two
binding margins.
• Landscape set to 2 generates one binding margin.
• Landscape set to 4 generates one vertical gutter and two binding margins.
• If two pages are imposed vertically as a result of landscape setting, one horizontal gutter is
generated; if four pages are imposed vertically, three horizontal gutters are generated.
• Both the vertical and horizontal gutter widths default to 70 dots (300 dpi).
• The default binding margin width is zero dot.
• Because all logical pages are equally assigned, the size of each logical page can be worked
out by solving the equation.
• Logical page width = (Paper Width - Vertical gutter width ¥ Number of vertical gutters +
Binding margin width ¥ Number of binding margins) ³ Number of imposed pages
• Logical page height = (Paper height - Horizontal gutter width ¥ Number of horizontal
gutters) ¥ Number of pages in row ³ Number of imposed pages
* Remainder is rounded off.
If the number of longitudinally arranged pages becomes 2 as the result of setting the number
of pages in row, one lateral gutter will be generated. When it becomes 4, three lateral gutters
will be generated.
• The default width of both the longitudinal and lateral gutters is 70 dots (300 dpi).
• The default binding margin is 0 dot.
