5.1 Digitizing with Triggering or
Measuring Touch Probe
(Option)
Overview
The digitizing option enables you to reduce a three-dimensional part
into discrete digital information by scanning it with a touch probe.
The following components are required for digitizing:

touch probe
n
“Digitizing option” software module in the TNC
n
SUSA evaluation software from HEIDENHAIN for further processing
of the data digitized in the MEANDER cycle.
The touch probe systems provide four digitizing cycles

back-and-forth parallel lines
7 CONTOUR LINES, triggering touch probe:
Digitizing in upwardly successive levels
8 LINE, triggering touch probe: Digitizing parallel
lines in one direction
15 RANGE Point table, measuring touch probe:
Defining a digitizing range
16 MEANDER, measuring touch probe: Digitizing
in back-and-forth parallel lines
17 CONTOUR LINES, measuring touch probe:

The TNC and the machine tool must be specially prepared
by the machine tool builder for the use of a touch probe.
