enter the user name user1, and select v3 from the Security Model list.

Configuring NMS
CAUTION:
The configuration on NMS must be consistent with that on the agent. Otherwise, you cannot perform
corresponding operations.
• Specify the SNMP version for the NMS as v3.
• Create an SNMP user user1.
• Enable both authentication and privacy functions
• Use MD5 for authentication and DES56 for encryption.
• Set the authentication key to authkey and the privacy key to prikey.
For information about configuring the NMS, see the manual for the NMS.
Verifying the configuration
• After the above configuration, the NMS can establish an SNMP connection with the agent and
query and reconfigure values of objects in the agent MIB.
• If an idle interface on the agent is shut down or brought up, the NMS will receive a trap information
sent by the agent.
