4. In box T3, write the maximum number of characters, from
1 to 30, that will appear in the field. Include spaces, $, /, or
other symbols that may appear in price or fixed character
fields.
A date field, for example, may have a maximum of 8
characters (mm/dd/yy).
5. Write V or F in box T4 to indicate if the field is fixed or
variable.
F Fixed length. The field always has the number of
characters defined in box T3.
V Variable length. The number of characters in the field
varies from 0 to whatever you defined in box T3.
6. Refer to the samples on the next page to select a font style
for the field. Note that the bold font does not accept
lowercase letters.
