Check Digits
Check digit algorithms are predefined for UPC and EAN bar
codes. If you wish to apply a check digit algorithm to a numeric
text field or a bar code that has no predefined algorithm, use
the syntax below to define a check digit.
Message Structure

{ Starting token.
A1. A Indicates a check digit. Enter A.
A2. selector Assign a number from 1-10 to this check digit formula.
A3. action Values:
A = add check digit
C = clear check digit.
A4. device Print storage device. Values:
R = printer RAM
T = temporary memory.
A5. modulus Modulus used in calculation. Enter a number from 2-10.
A6. fld-length Number of weighting digits used. It should equal the number
of digits in the field, minus the check digit.
A7. [D/P] Algorithm. D=sum of digits. P=sum of products.
A8. "weights" String of digits used for the calculation. The number of digits
in this string should equal the number in
fld-length.
