Since the test packets used to perform SAM are identical to those used to perform PM and the
packets are time stamped identically, the processing SAM packets are leveraged to compute and
record PM Test Results. Additionally, the ability to support 10 PPS for CPM allows PM Monitoring
to execute at the rate of 1/10 of a second.

For each SAM test, statistics about the SAM packets that are sent and received for a period of
time, called the CPM Test Duration, is maintained. These statistics are the same statistics as
collected for PM processing. After the CPM Test Duration, a Test Result is computed from these
statistics and added to the PM Test Results buffer. These Test Results are in the same exact
format as those generated by standard PM processing. The rest of the Network Performance
system treats these simply as Test Results which are forwarded to CanogaView.

4.6.14.2 Excluding PM results in unavailable period

A CPM profile option is available that will allow you to exclude any PM results that were obtained
during unavailable periods. Since the availability windows slides by one (DeltaT), this option
permits removal of any FD and FDV result that were obtained during an unavailable period (Delta
T).
