Special Leg Type Waypoints
Direct -- An arrow pointing to the
Direct--To fix is displayed in the waypoint
list window when the pilot initiates a
Direct--To. The from waypoint is
indicated as
DIRECT
.
Fly Course -- The leg type associated
with this special identifier is called the
heading to a manual leg. The pilot flies a
specified heading or the air traffic control
(ATC) assigned heading until further clearance is received. This leg
type is common within SIDs and STARs.
The FMS will automatically sequence the FLY CRS waypoint when the
vector is captured. When captured, the autopilot will disengage, the
active leg is displayed in green (LNAV not engaged), and the FLY CRS
leg is removed from the navigation map display. The FMS transitions
to Suspend, which the pilot can exit from one of the following ways:
D
Perform a Direct--To an active flight plan waypoint
D
Activate the FROM leg in the flight plan
D
Change the active flight plan
D
Push the
RESM
bezel softkey displayed in 4L when the home
window is selected.
NOTE: FLY CRS is the only situation where the
RESM
bezel
softkey label is displayed. Pushing the
RESM
bezel
softkey re--arms LNAV, and LNAV will engage when the
capture criteria is met for the lateral navigation providing
guidance for the active leg.
The active leg is displayed in green (LNAV not engaged). While on the
FLY CRS leg, the pilot may need to manually fly the flight plan or fly
heading select to re--engage lateral navigation.
