Range Selection
Range selection is depicted as an outer range ring arc or circle with the
corresponding numerical value displayed in the lower--left corner. The
zoom- in/+ and zoom- out/- bezel keys
, shown in Figure 6--5, are
used to select the range . When panning is active, range can also be
controlled by rotating the joystick knob.

When auto--range is not active, the navigation map view scale is
selected by the pilot such that the outer radius of the primary range ring
represents

NOTE: Range settings are retained following a power cycle of the
unit.
AUTO--RANGE
The auto--range feature automatically scales the range (to the closest
range setting) to two times the distance between the ownship and the
active waypoint. The auto--range feature is selected on the menu using
the
NAV MAP AUTO RNG
option, described in Section 4, Menu.
