Initial settings

After installation, the following settings must be made in order to use fax
functions. If the following settings are not correctly made, fax communica-
tions may not be possible. Please ensure these settings are registered.

Date/Time Settings

Date/Time Settings
Specify the current date and time.
For details on setting the date and time, refer to the User’s Guide [Copy
Operations].

Time zone
Specify the standard time zone for each region in the world.

Header Information
-

Sender
The transmission source name is this machine’s name and is recorded as
part of the transmission source record written at the top of the sent orig-
inal. Register a name of 30 characters or less.
Refer to “Registering transmission source name and fax number (Header
Information)” on page 10-51
for details.

Sender Fax No.
Normally, the fax number for this machine is registered as the Sender Fax
No. Numerical characters from 0 to 9, +, space, * and # are used, and 20
digits or less are registered for the Sender Fax No.

Line Parameter Setting

Dialing Method
For North American model, a touch-tone line or a rotary dial (pulse) line
(10pps) can be selected. For European model, only a touch-tone line can
be selected.

Receive Mode
Auto reception and manual reception can be selected.
Set the machine to auto reception to receive faxes automatically. If the
phone line is often busy because an external telephone line is connected,
set the machine to manual reception.
