Components
An SS system typically consists of the following components:
•
RWC
•
SS and Business Copy (BC/SS) software
•
RAID Manager (RAID Manager)
•
A pair of volumes (P-VOL and S-VOL)
•
A data pool
•
A consistency group
Licenses and capacity
To use SS, BC/SS must be installed on the same system. You must provide sufficient licensed
capacity for both SS and BC/SS.
SS uses a V-VOL management area for managing V-VOLs and data pools. The V-VOL management
area is created when additional shared memory is installed.
The V-VOL management area consists of the following:
•
Pool management block
•
Pool association information
The following table shows the volumes and capacities for calculating the usable capacity for SS.
The total applicable capacity must be less than the capacity you have licensed for SS. If you need
more licensed capacity, contact HP Technical Support.
