Causes and solutions
Problem
Solution:
1.
Find the consistency group number. Use the Snapshot or Pair Operation window in
RWC.
2.
Create a pair specifying the consistency group number.
Cause: The host is copying the pair and writing data.
When you select the data pool, the
pool capacity and other information Solution: Wait until the pair is copied and the information shown in the Summary table
and the Primary Volumes tab is the same.
shown in the Summary table is
different than the information in the
Primary Volumes tab.
Cause: The host did not define the SS pair because the pair status changed to “PSUE” while
the host was creating the pair.
You cannot resynchronize an SS pair
that is in “PSUE” status.
Solution:
1.
Delete all SS pairs associated with the P-VOL.
2.
Recreate the SS pairs.
For more information about resolving this problem, see
“Recovering from failure during
pairresync -restore operation” (page 55)
Recovering from failure during pairresync -restore operation
If a failure occurs while you restore a pair and the pair status changes to “PSUE”, data in the P-VOL
cannot be ensured. Establish consistency in the P-VOL.
1.
Delete the pair.
2.
Do one of the following:
•
Create a new pair.
•
Resynchronize the pair.
3.
Overwrite the P-VOL with backup data.
For more information about the cause and solution to errors when resynchronizing SS pairs that
are in “PSUE” status, see
“General troubleshooting” (page 52)
Recovering a terminated HP-UX host server
Errors can occur and the HP-UX host server can terminate if you use a volume in command that
has already been recognized by the host server as a V-VOL. You can recover the terminated HP-UX
host server.
1.
Force the command process and its parent process to terminate.
2.
Create the SS pair. Ensure the emulation type is 0 (OPEN-0V) for both the V-VOL volume and
the VDEV for the V-VOL group.
For more information about creating pairs, see
3.
Split the pair.
For more information about splitting pairs, see
4.
Run the command for recognizing the device or V-VOL on the host server.
Recovering a blocked pool workflow
When a pool is blocked, recover the pool.
