Storage Management Appliance Software V2.0 User Guide
links page
One of several display types found in the content pane of the Storage Management Appliance
interface. A links page consists of two or more hypertext links to features or subsystems. Each link
consists of a graphic and a title and often includes a short description. See “
,” on
page 12 for information about different display types.
list table
One of several display types found in the content pane of the Storage Management Appliance
interface. List items appear on rows of a table and can be sorted based on the values in any column.
The list table format includes a number of task buttons that you use to view or change the attributes
of a selected list item. The table displays items on pages with each page containing a maximum of
100 items. See “
,” on page 12 for information about different display types.
migrate (notification settings)
Process of moving the notification parameters for a user from a prior version of the Storage
Management Appliance Software to the currently installed version. Migration is an optional part of
the general update process that you can complete after installing a new version of the Storage
Management Appliance Software. See Appendix A, “
Migrating Event Notification Settings
,” on
page 101 for detailed information.
notification
Process of sending a message in response to an event. The Storage Management Appliance can
send a notification message to a user at both a standard e-mail address and an e-mail pager address.
An administrator specifies the delivery methods available for each user. The appliance can also
send messages to hosts in the form of SNMP traps. See “
detailed information about notification types and settings.
operator (privilege level)
One of three privilege levels, one of which is assigned to each Storage Management Appliance
user. A person assigned the Operator privilege level can view and modify their own user properties
with the exception of their assigned privilege level. With Operator privileges, a user can also
modify their own notification settings. See “
,” on page 23 for more
information about assigning privilege levels.
policy
An automated procedure triggered by an event or condition. A policy is implemented with a script
and Storage Management Appliance users can use the Automation feature on the Settings page to
create such scripts. For example, a policy could delete a log file or log entries when available disk
space diminishes to a specified level. See “
,” on page 97 for more
information.
