Note:

While user properties for V2.0 allow you to specify delivery by standard e-mail

and/or e-mail pager, the migration process specifies delivery by only standard

e-mail.

8. Click Finish to complete the notification migration for the selected user and

return to the Migrate Event Notification Recipients page.

If there are more users to migrate, choose another user and click Migrate to

complete the process again. When there are no more users with notification

settings to migrate, the Migrate Notification Settings icon disappears from the

Getting Started page.
The new Management Appliance user created in this process has the same e-mail

address as the previous version user. If the new user account is enabled, that

person receives notification messages from the same devices and applications as

the migrated user.
A migrated user could have notification settings for particular devices or

applications, with e-mail notification disabled in the prior software version. In this

special case the new V2.0 user has similar notification settings, and notification is

disabled on the Notification Info tab of the User Properties page.
By default, the new user receives notification for all event types generated by the

migrated devices and applications. The Management Appliance V2.0 software

provides two ways an administrator can reduce the number of notification

messages received by the new user. One way is to disable notification for

particular severity types using the Notification Info tab of the User Properties

page. See “

Configuring User Properties for Notification

, page 68 for detailed

information. The other way is to disable unwanted event types listed on the

Events Summary page for the user. See “

Managing User Notifications

,” page 82

for detailed information.
This migration process adds any SNMP trap recipients or hosts to the

Management Appliance database, however the settings for event forwarding are

not migrated. See “

SNMP Trap Forwarding

,” on page 67 for detailed information.

Sending Notifications to an Existing Account

When you migrate notification settings from a previous installation of the Storage

Management Appliance, you can specify that the notifications be assigned to an

existing or target user account.
